About Starwatch

Who’s being heard. Not just who’s talking.

Starwatch maps the public posts of candidates and party lists in the 2026 Czech municipal elections in ten cities, linked to the people and lists behind them. It shows which posts drew attention, from whom and on which topics, and every post opens the public source it was observed on.

How to read Starwatch

Five views over the same snapshot. Colour always says who posted (one hue per party or list), the size of a post says how much attention it drew on the metric you chose, and a dashed outline means not observed, which is different from zero.

Star AtlasStart here

A map of Czechia with the ten cities. Each city marker is sized by the chosen metric. Pick a city and the map flies into its street map and municipal boundary.

  • Party islands. Every party or list in the city floats as an island with its logo and 2022 result. Its posts are tiles, sized by the metric and ordered biggest first.
  • Rank by. Switch the size of everything between reach, views, likes, comments and number of posts.
  • Parties. The party picker finds a list fast by name, city or logo, and keeps lists of the same national party together across cities.
  • Topic lens. Keep only posts with a given topic label; the counts tell you how many posts carry it.
  • Inspector. Click a tile to read the caption, play the video where retained, and open the original post.
SpotlightOne person or list

A profile of one candidate or list: portrait or logo, place on the ballot, the 2022 result where one matches, and their best posts sized by reach, with video playback and links to the sources. The topic mix counts their labelled posts per topic; click a topic to see those posts. Where available, it also shows the list’s election program and recent news mentions.

PulseSide by side

Compare people or lists on posts, views, likes and comments, with their top posts next to each other. The then-and-now view sets 2022 ballots beside the attention observed in this snapshot. The two are shown side by side and never combined into one score.

RadarA replay, not alerts

A watchlist for one city, replayed over the snapshot: what the lists and people you follow published in the 48 hours before collection, how each post landed, and which stood out against the account's own posts. Every item links to its public source. Switch the city at the top, or pick a party or list to watch. Radar is purely observational: it drafts nothing and suggests no replies, and it does not watch anything live; it replays what was collected on 8–9 October 2026.

By the numbersThe whole snapshot

Totals for every post in Starwatch: how many there are, how many play as video, and the views, likes and comments observed on them, by platform, city and party.

Reading the numbers

Every figure is what a platform showed for a public post at the moment it was collected. Nothing is estimated or modelled.

Views
The platform’s own view counter, where it reports one (mostly video). A view is not a unique person.
Reach
Views where the platform reports them, otherwise likes plus comments. Use it to compare attention across platforms, not as an audience size.
Likes and comments
Counts only. Starwatch never stores who liked or commented.
Not observed
No verified account or no reported counter. Shown dashed or as a dash, never as zero.
2022 results
Official ČSÚ results of the 2022 municipal elections, matched to 2026 lists and candidates where the match is unambiguous. History, not a forecast.
Topic labels
Reviewed labels come from a checked sample; machine labels cover the rest, each backed by a quoted phrase, and can be wrong. Not every post carries one; see the coverage below.

Data sources

Public sources only. Each record in the app links back to where it was observed.

Candidates and lists
The registry of candidacies for the 2026 municipal elections, from the open data of the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) at volby.gov.cz.
2022 results
ČSÚ open data for the 2022 municipal elections at volby.gov.cz. Candidate totals include votes allocated from list votes, so they are not preference votes only.
Public posts
Recent posts from public profiles on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and X, collected with Apify Actors. An account appears only after an independent check confirmed that it belongs to the registered candidate or list. Platform counters were read once, at collection.
Party logos
From Wikimedia Commons, used under each file’s stated licence.
Candidate portraits
From public pages such as city council and party websites, each kept with its source page. Starwatch never infers who is pictured.
Programs and news
Where available: election programs found on the lists’ public sites, summarised by machine with verbatim quotes and source links, and news articles that mention a list or candidate, stored only as title, outlet, date and link.

Snapshot and coverage

Starwatch shows one snapshot of public posts, collected overnight on 8–9 October 2026, the eve of the vote. It does not update. The tables below are computed from that snapshot.

Topic labels

Topic labels sort posts into broad topics such as housing or transport. Reviewed labels come from a checked sample; machine labels cover the rest, each backed by a quoted phrase, and can be wrong.

    Limitations

Read Starwatch as a dated record of attention on public posts. It is not a measure of support, and it is not complete.

    Privacy and source code

Starwatch covers public politicians and public posts only. It stores no commenters, followers or voters, does not profile anyone, and never posts on anyone’s behalf. The collected snapshot opens after sign-in with GitHub, Google or Facebook; the privacy notice explains what sign-in stores.

The code, the collection recipes and the documentation are open source under the MIT licence at github.com/1vecera/starwatch. The collected snapshot itself (posts, images and videos) is not in the repository; it is served only here, behind sign-in, and every post links to its original.
